Galatians 4:1-31
First Things First- Open your time in prayer.
Ice Breaker Activity: The first several Super Bowl halftime shows were college marching bands including the University of Texas band in 1974. Share with the group your preferred halftime entertainment & why.
Read aloud Galatians 4:4. What might Paul mean by the phrase “fullness of time” and what significant thing(s) took place?
Read aloud Galatians 4:9. Discuss the difference between knowing God and being known by God.
Paul references an illness in Galatians 4:12-16. What might it have been and how did he feel about the situation?
Zeal (enthusiasm, eagerness, making much of, desire) is written of in Galatians 4:17-18. Read aloud these verses along with Proverbs 19:2 and Romans 10:2. Share about the possible benefits and liabilities of being zealous.
Galatians 4:21-31 deals with Hagar and Sarah. “The best commentary on the Bible is the Bible.” (Genesis 16, 21 also Galatians 4:27/Isaiah 54:1). Connection or correlation are important parts of biblical studies. Discuss how you personally navigate the cross referencing of Scriptures by sharing helpful tools and methods you use.
“Pick One”- have each member share the one verse that especially resonates with them. Herein, going forward, lies an opportunity to meditate and memorize.
