John 8:31-36 & Galatians 5:13

First Things First- Open your time in prayer.

Ice Breaker Activity: Share with the group a favorite 4th of July activity or memory. Tell why it is a favorite and what feelings derive from it.

Read aloud John 8:31-36.

Discuss what it means and practical ways we can abide in God’s Word. See John 8:31.

The slogan/motto of SMU is “the truth will set you free.” See John 8:32. Share some of the freeing aspects of truth.

Read aloud again John 8:36. Talk about your own experience of Christ setting you free. What was it like and how did it make you feel? What does “free indeed” mean to you?

Read aloud Galatians 5:13. Comment on practical and helpful ways we can use our freedom in Christ to serve one another.

Let freedom ring and let it ring true.
